The 17th edition of the most eagerly awaited festival kicks off on Friday 23rd July. A first weekend of international guests, music, dance, the most awarded films in the world and a screen
that can only be reached by gondola.
Lago Film Fest starts again with a first weekend of video dance, music and the most awarded films in the world. An overwhelming start for a festival that will continue its journey next week with a
rich parterre of guests and meetings and a cultural offer open to all.
On 23rd July, Sun Dog by Dorian Jespers, the most awarded short film of 2020, will open the festival, whose subscriptions are already sold-out. Sun Dog comes to Lago Film Fest in a
long-awaited Italian premiere after winning the International Film Festival in Rotterdam.
Sun Dog is a debut that fascinates for the visionary nature of the young director and charms for the images almost suspended in a surreal and hypnotic Murmansk.
An absolute novelty of this edition of Lago Film Fest is the exclusive presence of Le Notti d’oro: more than 30 Film Academies all over the world award every year the best short film
produced in their country. The Académie des Césars has been promoting these films for many years, not only in France, but internationally thanks to Le Notti d’Oro, by screening the most beautiful
short films awarded by its Film Academies with Césars, Oscars, Bafta, Goya, Magritte, David di Donatello…
They proposed to Lago Film Fest to screen the shorts of Le Notti d’Oro: a very original compilation, offered as an ideal journey, the best of short films from all over the world.
The most awarded films in the world land at Lago Film Fest!
Throughout the weekend it will be possible to live the most suggestive viewing experience of the festival: the secret screen will be accessible only through a gondola ride. PODOM by
Olivia Funes Lastra is a site-specific installation conceived as a surprise, as a journey, as a discovery.
The work will be installed in Lago di Lago and will only be accessible by gondola, for a small but powerful journey that will take viewers every evening to lose themselves in the silence of the
water and the stars, in search of a multiple, multilingual, multiform story that will open their eyes to this and many other landscapes.
The protagonists on Saturday and Sunday will be the L.O.S.T. prize, the only prize in Italy dedicated to soundtracks and sound design, which will be present with two masterclasses
dedicated to the world of sound held by the jurors Taketo Gohara – producer and sound designer to whom Vinicio Capossela, Elisa and Brunori Sas have entrusted their work
– and Angelo Bonanni – sound engineer and winner of three David di Donatello awards. In addition, on Sunday evening, the winner will be announced, chosen by Gohara and
Bonanni and Roberto Angelini – singer-songwriter and producer as well as band leader of the TV programme Propaganda Live.
But there’s more to the festival than meets the eye. Central to the first weekend will also be Moving Bodies: the new competition dedicated to video dance of which the winning film will be
awarded on Saturday 24 at 22:00.
For the first year Moving bodies, born as a focus dedicated to dance on video at Lago Film Fest, becomes an international competition. The selected films are small jewels, where dance and movement
intersect with everyday life, with the hidden folds of our existence and impose themselves as an essential ingredient of our lives. Cinema and dance merge and let themselves be seduced by each
other in one great work.
The festival thus opens the doors of this new edition, but still has plenty of novelties in store, international guests, meetings and screenings to discover until Sunday 1 August, the day of the
awards ceremony.
This year the ticket office is entirely online and, just a few days before the start of the screenings, the first sell-outs have already been announced.
